RE VIEW-A very picturesque 13 mile ride through Buescher State Park Near Bastrop.

OVERVIEW-This road is somewhat narrow. It's lined with pine trees and can at times be littered with pine needles. So be careful if you pull over, those needles can be like ball bearings! Not much traffic during the week. Saw no deer activity. Wildlife factor negligible. Canopy riding for several miles.

PLEASE NOTE-This road is through a State Park. Because of that you may have to stop at the entrance gate and pay a $1 fee to ride it. I have been by the entrance before and no one was manning it, so I just rode on. I think you only have to pay on the weekends. But the ride is worth a dollar none the less.

MILES-13+

BEGIN) From Highway 71 several miles south of Bastrop turn left onto FM 153. This will be just across from the Smithville airport. This left will be an underpass of 71, the first one after leaving Bastrop.  Continue on 153 and after a few miles look to the left (watch signs) for "Buescher State Park South Entrance", exit here. Check any gate fees then begin. When you come upon the first hard right, take it and continue.

Next Leg)

When you get to the 1st fork, bear left.

Next Leg) Go straight at intersection.

Next Leg) Cross Alum Creek Road and continue west. Keep going straight (slight left) @ CR 446.

Final Leg) Several miles past CR 180, the road splits. No matter the direction you take you will end up at the same point. For a little longer ride bear left. Follow the signs out of the park towards Hwy. 21, you should eventually pass a golf course. There is also a park house at the exit. They have restrooms and a soda machine. When you get to Hwy. 21 it can be a daunting task to try and go west towards Austin, be careful!
